wigglewarily asked me to share my favorite movie musical song. I knew my response was going to be from Jesus Christ Superstar, but which song is my favorite I wondered.
I decided on this track because I’ve seen it performed live by Ted himself and it’s the most moving musical experience I’ve ever had. The first time I saw it, these two ladies were sitting behind suicideblonde & me and during the intermission we started chatting about the show. They were enjoying themselves, but said that they weren’t that impressed with Ted. After resisting my instinct to knock their heads together suicideblonde sweetly replied, “Oh but he’s even more terrific in the second act.” And to calm me down, she asked me to tell them about his power hit, Gesthemene. I assured them they would be moved. The second act started up, we settled in, and after Ted took us through the song and I was left teary eyed and breathless, one of the ladies leaned leaned forward and whispered in my ear, “Yes!” And I knew he had moved us all.
